This film is about a gay man and a lesbian woman getting married in order to hide their respective homosexual relationships.
"Two Weddings and a Funeral" has many emotional moments, but hilarious laugh out loud scenes are more abundant. It tells how the two leading characters marry to put on a facade for the intolerant society. This sad topic is approached from a lighthearted perspective, as their facade erodes from within and out. The supporting cast is a stereotypically camp group of individuals, but the play on stereotypes come across is really funny and not offensive at all. There is a scene that made the whole cinema roaring with laughter, and it involves two guys in bed but their fun abruptly stops. I also like the funeral scene where there is a joke regarding a secret lover. The filmmakers manages to make a serious scene funny, but right after that the camera pans to the grieving mother which abruptly changes the atmosphere again.
The ending is very moving and emotional. It compresses a lot of emotions into a short space of time. It tells of self acceptance, friendship, love, guilt and having courage to live a life that is true to oneself. It has many affirming messages in the hilarious plot and a lighthearted approach. I really enjoyed watching "Two Weddings and a Funeral". Watch it if you have the chance.
