Storyline Sarah Campbell has to start her life over again after a messy divorce leaves her broken, lost, and alone for the first time in years. Having to live in a dumpy apartment complex with some interesting people is the least of her worries when strange things begin to happen in her new home including visions of a little boy in the mirrors. Passing them off as her “crazy imagination”, things intensify when Sarah starts to have nightmares about being murdered and tossed into a shallow grave by a “shadowy figure”. As her nightmares become more vivid, so do her encounters with the ghostly child who begins terrorize her and cause “accidents” wherever she goes. After a visit to a local “psychic/Paranormal expert”, Sarah is told that she must help the ghost complete his unfinished business so he can cross to the other side. Maybe my opinion is biased by my nostalgia, having grown up in the 80's and spent many a muggy summer night renting movies like April Fools Day, Woodchipper Massacre and Witchboard. The Latter of which this film reminded me of, especially the feel, the red headed lead even has a semi revealing shower scene ala Tawny Kitaen-although I think this was more coincidence rather than homage. Warwick Davis is great (duh)-Daniel Baldwin shows the other less adept performers how to convincingly chew through the dialogue. Movies like this have found a stable venue on channels like SyFy and Lifetime not just DVD and streaming, which makes for ample places to hopefully stumble upon it. I watched the movie in the company of my adult son and enjoyed it, but would have no problem having watched it with my gal-pal who is not a fan of horror movies-especially since this one feels more like suspense. Check it out, lots of fun!
I thought this was very watchable. The interaction between the main character and the young neighbour was realistic enough (given his personality) to be humorously entertaining. Baldwin was great in what was quite a small on screen presence but a large part of the plot. (My goodness; his eyes are so pale!).
You assume that he was the murderer but the twist was the "why". In that context, it's difficult to reconcile his actions in the shed with the truth that's revealed at the end – he wasn't a bad man. A bit of a plot hole there, in my opinion.
I liked it. No gore, no torture; a bit of humour.
I have to admit, I got this movie just because Warwick Davis was in it…and I didn't really expect much. This is a low-budget film and is a little slow to get going, but I actually found myself really getting into it and enjoying the characters. Daniel Baldwin (how many of them are there???) was surprisingly good as the menacing neighbor. If you are looking for a horror film, you will probably be disappointed, but as a low-budget thriller, this one is actually pretty good. So if you are of for some suspense kick back grab the popcorn. As I stated it's more so a thriller.I have to admit, I got this movie just because Warwick Davis was in it…and I didn't really expect much. The story-line could have been OK although at the end, while we get the extent of the "trap" and the cycle, we do not really understanding why this happening. And it is hard to understand some of the plot's line (so many holes) – why the scary neighbor trash journals? what do they contain? why is he turning into a psycho wanting to kill her if he was such a good guy? And it goes on. The music and suspense could also have been better but badly orchestrated, I would say that every horror / fright scene turn into a cliché.
To top that, boy! The acting is far below poor: the dialog sound like every actor is reciting from a print out during a first time actor selection (here is a screenplay, have 2 minutes to rehearse and let's shoot). The intonations are near emotionless and the dynamic is flat. Too bad, could have been a good one.
