Storyline Childhood friends Bruno and Lalo are inseparable, until Lisa enters their lives. Beautiful and free-spirited, she quickly turns both their heads, igniting a passionate but heartbreaking love triangle – before suddenly leaving town without a word. Lisa resurfaces much later; Bruno is married and Lalo divorced, and none have them have been able to completely shake their memories of that summer 30 years ago. When Lisa reunites the group, those old feelings are stirred – and relived. Written by Anonymous |

Un Amor (A Love) explores the infatuation (to different degrees) of two teenage boys with a teenage girl, all living in a sleepy provincial town in Argentina, and the consequences thirty years later. Personally, I find Lalo's reaction to Lisa's sudden departure somewhat out of proportion, but then there might be a bit of self deception in the way Lalo appraises his post-Lisa life. The film is somewhat slow and wordy at times but interest never flags.
Bruno is very well played by the ubiquitous Diego Peretti; Luis Ziembrowsky (Lalo) and Elena Roger (Lisa) are at the same level. Paula Hernández's direction (she also co-wrote the script) is low key and keeps sentimentality in check. The cinematography by Guillermo Nieto conveys perfectly the feeling of a small river town.
Hernández's three feature movies Herencia (Inheritance, 2006), Lluvia (Rain, 2008) and Un Amor (2011) are well worth watching. Un Amor has made it to the rental services. Herencia (but not Lluvia) is available in DVD Region 1 without subtitles.
